A Foodies Wish

Thanks for joining me!

As a little girl I loved reading. I constantly aimed to read a couple pages more than what my teacher assigned. Forever anticipating the next book, I could get my hands on. The only time I found myself stuck on a book was if it had a passage describing a meal, foods served at a party, cooking scenarios or simply put the mention of ‘food’ in a book was enough to keep me glued to a single page for hours sending me into a spiral of imaginary thoughts; did the characters enjoy their meal? What did it taste like? Googling newly discovered ingredients and cuisines. That is how I uncovered my love for cooking and everything food.

I was born and raised in Pakistan, so I grew up eating mainly South Asian flavours; strong aromatic herbs, various types of chilis and spices concocted in generous amounts of ghee (clarified butter). Through our journey together on this blog, I would like to introduce you all to the Holy Grail of flavour i.e. Pakistani cuisine.  Our food may not be as popular throughout the world, as its counterpart, the Indian cuisine, but I assure you the flavour palates are incredibly parallel if not identical, because the two cuisines are progeny of a single origin.

Fast forward to 2017, I married and moved to Germany. Needless to say, my taste buds were thrilled. They were gearing up for a new venture, a completely different spice and flavour palate to what they were accustomed, awaited them. Not only was it the Central European cuisines that had me excited, with the Caucasian, Baltic/Nordic, Balkan and Mediterranean offerings in close proximity, I am living every Foodies dream. Do join me as I embark upon this wonderful opportunity soaking up the flavours of Europe. Through this blog I’ll be sharing my culture, my favourite recipes, my kitchen experiments and discoveries as we explore an array of worldwide cuisines together.
